The purpose of this study was to explore how secondary school teachers describe the implementation and sustainability of Positive Intervention Behavior and Supports (PBIS) at a Title I school in Texas. A qualitative methodology was used to conduct this study. 23 secondary school teachers participated in semi-structured interviews and two focus groups. The theory of reasoned action (Fishbein & Ajzen, 1975) guided this study. Braun and Clarke (2022) six-step thematic analysis approach was used to analyze the data. Data analysis resulted in six themes. The study revealed that implementing PBIS is most effective with appropriate training and teacher support. The study also revealed that the sustainability of PBIS is more likely if leadership guides the implementation with fidelity, provides supports for students, and promotes collaboration among stakeholders. Professional development and system improvements were among the recommendations for future practice.
