As Nicolas Mascret says in his book “N’oublions pas les bons profs” (Let's not forget the good teachers), everyone "inevitably has an opinion on what makes a good teacher, depending on where they are coming from and their own frame of reference.” This translates into expectations that school stakeholders have of teachers. This communication is part of doctoral research aimed at documenting the representations of “a good secondary school teacher” among students, parents, administrators, and teachers. We will present the results collected in the spring and fall of 2024 from 705 participants through an online questionnaire, specifically based on the responses provided to a hierarchical verbal association task. Drawing on Moscovici's theoretical framework of social representations, we will present prototypical analyses that explore both the content and structure of representations, as well as highlight areas of convergence and divergence. These results will be interpreted in light of the current educational context in Quebec, where there is a shortage of qualified teachers, raising questions about the quality of educational services offered to students.
