This article describes an international learning experience based on the COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) model, developed as part of the Fulbright fellowship process. The main goal was to encourage academic collaboration among students and faculty from Mexico, the United States, and Colombia through the creation of an international class focused on shared topics such as environment, culture, and common values. The methodology included live virtual sessions, collaborative panels, and digital tools like Padlet and Teams to support intercultural exchange. An adapted survey was also used to assess perceptions of skill development, attitudes, behaviors, and educational relevance. Results indicate that 88% of participants would recommend a COIL class to other students, and 75% found the challenge of learning in another language relevant to their education. The average rating of the experience was 4.67 out of 5, showing improvements in intercultural communication, critical thinking, empathy, and adaptability. Additionally, values like respect for differences, openness to new ideas, and comfort with ambiguity were strengthened. These findings highlight the potential of the COIL model as a teaching strategy to support meaningful learning in multicultural and digital settings.
