This study examines the role of social media in facilitating sexual health information seeking among youth in Klang Valley, Malaysia, particularly in the context of premarital heterosexuality. Youth in Malaysia face significant sexual health challenges, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs), unplanned pregnancies, and related complications. Cultural taboos, social stigma, and legal barriers hinder their access to timely and accurate sexual health information from traditional healthcare providers. Consequently, youths increasingly turn to social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and social Q&A websites for sexual health guidance. Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study examines the relationship between perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness of social media, and recognition of sexual health problems. A quantitative cross-sectional method was employed, and data were collected from 384 respondents aged 18-24 through a structured questionnaire. The findings reveal that youths experiencing sexual health issues, such as symptoms of STIs or pregnancy concerns, are more likely to seek information on social media due to its anonymity and convenience. The perceived usefulness of social media platforms, which provide up-to-date, relevant, and user-friendly information, motivates youths to use these channels. Additionally, the ease of use and quick access to information enhance youths’ confidence in managing their sexual health issues. The study concludes that social media plays a crucial role in improving sexual health literacy among young people, providing an accessible and trusted source of information in a culturally sensitive environment.
