The proficiency of this language is a base for international cooperation and development and is therefore the reason why many countries have been working towards implementing different policies to enhance and improve English curriculum within Foreign Language education in schools.
This paper gives an overview to the Critical Success and Failure Factors on EFL education in El Salvador and South Korea. The first chapter presents general information of English language education as part of the globalization process. The second and third chapters explain the different EFL education policies implemented in both, El Salvador and South Korea, in the last decades. The fourth chapter analyses the EFL programs of both countries based on the language policies suggested the paper Language-in-Education Policy and Planning by Kaplan and Baldauf in 2005. Finally, this paper concludes with a brief explanation about the Critical Success and Failure Factors of EFL education in both countries, followed by a policy recommendation to reform EFL education in El Salvador based on the Critical Success Factors of English language education in South Korea.
